Expertise and Professional Background
Ms. Wendell and her colleagues provide executive coaching, organizational effectiveness, and leadership development programs for a variety of organizations in the private and nonprofit sectors. Ms. Wendell is an expert on leadership transition and succession planning and coauthored When Leaders Leave: A New Perspective on Leadership Transition. Her work with entrepreneurs has increased their ability to motivate teams and improve overall performance and productivity. The Women Presidents’ Organization selected Ms. Wendell to chair its Philadelphia and Wilmington Chapters, where she facilitates monthly roundtables for women entrepreneurs who lead multimillion dollar companies.
Prior to founding HR+SS, Ms. Canavan was associated with Sibson Consulting since 1983. During that time, she served as a senior compensation consultant and worked in several management capacities, including overseeing the custom compensation survey area and the Data Analysis and Research Services division.
Ms. Canavan has worked across a wide array of industries, including health insurance, reinsurance, utilities, engineering, food processing, higher education, and not-for-profit organizations.
Graduating with departmental honors with memberships in both the Periclean and Omicron Delta Epsilon academic honor societies, Ms. Canavan holds a B.A. in economics from Skidmore College.
Ms. Fell holds a B.A. in political science with a double minor in English literature and psychology from Fairfield University.
Before founding HR+SS, Mr. Canavan worked in the finance, information technology, manufacturing, and healthcare industries, primarily in sales and client-relationship management.
Mr. Canavan holds a B.S. in management from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
Ms. Fell provides analytical and support services. She supports the internal administration functions of the HR+SS, including marketing and assists with computer modeling, administering custom surveys, data collection, and data analysis.
Prior to joining HR+SS, Ms. Fell had 18 years of corporate business experience, including business support outsourcing, defined contribution benefit plan administration, administration management in a US–based manufacturing company and, retail sales and management experience.
Compensation Management Consultancy
Ms. Canavan has two primary areas of focus: one is helping companies tie their compensation programs to their overall organizational strategy, and the other is developing and implementing custom compensation research and surveys.
Working with companies to develop performance and reward strategies that align compensation programs to the overarching goals of the organization, Ms. Canavan conducts complex competitive assessment assignments, designs annual and long-term incentive plans, develops board-of-director compensation packages, and conducts custom compensation and total-rewards surveys.
Mr. Canavan has two primary areas of focus: one is providing and/or directing the achievement of deliverables for clients’ custom compensation analyses and surveys, and the other is managing the administrative responsibilities of HR+SS.
His expertise is in developing computer models to accurately capture, analyze, and interpret data to provide meaningful solutions to clients’ needs, and assembling the appropriate team of experts to facilitate the gathering, input, and analysis of data.
Mr. Canavan’s understanding of job analysis is enhanced by his work experience in a broad array of industry sectors, including health insurance, manufacturing, information technology, and finance.
